About Our Partner

In 1995, Dolly Parton launched an exciting new effort, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, to benefit the children of her home county in East Tennessee, USA. Dolly’s vision was to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families.
One brand-new high-quality book is mailed to the child's home every month until his or her 5th birthday completely free to their family. Each book arrives at a child's house specially chosen for his or her age group, with age-appropriate concepts and themes.
Our early childhood literacy council chooses at least 10 bilingual books included in the yearly mailings.
Since launching our local Denver pilot program in 2015 with 30 Curtis Park children and 4 volunteers, we have grown to more than 900 children, have mailed almost 17,600 books and have one full-time employee. Imagination Library now covers three zip codes. Our goal is to expand our service area to all 41 Denver zip codes by 2024.
